The social activities are designed to foster intercultural communication and exchange among participants. Please note that all activities are subject to change or adjustment due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather conditions) and require a minimum number of participants to take place. Accompanying persons are welcome to join, by covering only the cost of the selected event. These activities are not included in the registration fee, and pricing may be adjusted accordingly. Events will be confirmed and held only if the minimum required number of participants is reached.

A Taste of the Ancient Greek Symposium

This event offers a modern take on the traditional symposium—an ancient Greek gathering centered around sharing food, ideas, and conversation. Participants will experience the Greek way of meeting and exchanging in a relaxed and authentic setting. The meal includes a selection of starters, a main course, dessert, and one glass of wine or a soft drink per person. The event will be held at a typical Greek restaurant, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Social Dinner

This dinner provides a wonderful opportunity to connect, reflect, and exchange ideas following the conclusion of the academic program. The evening includes a three-course set menu featuring starters, traditional Greek cuisine, and dessert. A vegetarian option is available upon request—please inform us in advance if you require this. Kindly note that the dinner is not à la carte and includes selected drinks. For any additional inquiries or special requests, please consult the Institute’s administrative staff, who will be available throughout the conference and during the event.

Educational Tour of Athens – Including the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum (Approx. 3–4 hours)
Join us for a guided educational tour through the historic heart of Athens. Highlights of the city tour include iconic landmarks such as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Hellenic Parliament, and the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro), where the first modern Olympic Games were held. The route continues past the Zappeion Hall, the National Garden, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. We’ll also pass the renowned Athenian Trilogy—comprising the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library. The highlight of the tour is the legendary Acropolis of Athens (take a look at a virtual tour to Acropolis http://acropolis-virtualtour.gr/en.html ). With insights from our professional tour guide, you will explore the historic monuments of the Acropolis Hill, including the Propylaea (the grand entrance), the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, and the Erechtheion with its iconic Porch of the Caryatids. The tour concludes with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, where ancient artifacts and sculptures breathe life into classical history. Important Note: Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes suitable for the terrain. There is a drive through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus – Levadia and Arachova (short stop on the way back). Arrive at Delphi, the center of Ancient World – the “Omphalos” (Navel of Earth) – whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum containing such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias.

Embark on a captivating full-day excursion to the province of Argolis—an unforgettable journey through history, culture, and natural beauty. Departing from Athens, we follow the scenic coastal road to our first stop: the Corinth Canal, an impressive 19th-century engineering feat that connects the Ionian and Aegean Seas (brief stop). Our journey continues to Mycenae, the legendary citadel of one of the oldest prehistorical civilizations, renowned for its connection to the Trojan War. Here, we’ll explore the Lion’s Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, and the Treasury of Atreus, believed to be the tomb of King Agamemnon. Discover the stories and splendor of this ancient world guided by rich historical insights. Following our visit to Mycenae, we’ll enjoy a traditional Greek lunch in the area. We then head to Nafplio—also known as Napoli di Romania—a picturesque town and Greece’s first capital. Stroll through charming alleys, admire elegant neoclassical architecture, and take in the views of the Palamidi Fortress, Bourtzi Castle, and the Cathedral of Saint George. After a short guided walking tour, you’ll have free time to explore the city at your own pace. In the afternoon, we return to Athens with lasting memories of Greece’s mythical past and coastal charm.
