Niki Menelaou was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. Following the award of a BSc degree in Social Science and Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science she worked as a teacher in private secondary schools and as a lecturer at the Europa School of Journalism in Nicosia. For almost ten years she worked as a translator, producer and presenter of radio and TV programmes on culture at “O Logos” radio- television channel and from 1999 -2007 as a cultural officer at the literature section of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Ιn 2001 she was awarded an MA degree in Media and Culture from Middlesex University, UK and in 2005 a Doctorate from the same University in Cultural Administration and Policy.
She is a Link Tutor for postgraduate programmes of studies at the Institute for Work Based Learning at Middlesex University, UK, since 2005 and a lecturer at the Department of Journalism, School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Frederick University in Cyprus since 2007.
Niki Menelaou is also a holder of a piano performance and theory of music diploma from the Athens Hellenic Conservatory, has also worked as a music instructor for a number of years parallel to her other teaching practices. She has published three compact discs with orchestral music and songs as a composer.
In the field of Media and Culture she has published a number of articles in scientific journals and has written the book: “Selected Writings on Media and Culture” which circulated in 2011 by En Tipis Publications.
Additionally, she has participated with papers in numerous conferences.
