Alexander Karapidis studied political science and received a Magister Artium at the University of Stuttgart in 1998. After his studies he started working as a Junior Researcher for the Institute for Human Factors and Technology Management (IAT) at the University of Stuttgart in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IAO, focusing on the topics competence management in the service industry and technology-enhanced learning. Since 2003 he is employed as a Senior Researcher at the Fraunhofer IAO, which operates in the business sector of Industrial Engineering. His research mainly comprises national and international company-driven and public funded projects in the area of organizational change aligned with human resource management and competence management issues. At the moment, his research and consulting activities also investigate issues in digital transformation and its impact on the competencies of the workforce.
