Dr. Abe Harraf is a tenured professor of Management at the Monfort College of Business of the University of Northern Colorado. During 2007-2011, he served as the Provost and Senior Vice President at University of Northern Colorado, a research and doctoral granting institution of the state of Colorado. With over 20 years of academic leadership experience including over a decade as the chief academic administrator at three private and public institutions, Dr. Harraf is an accomplished scholar and frequent speaker at local, regional, national, and international forums on varied academic leadership topics. In addition he is an affiliated faculty at University of Economics, Prague, Czech Republic and University of Trieste, Italy. Prior to joining the University of Northern Colorado, Dr. Harraf served as the Provost at Southern Utah University for five years (2002-2007). Before that, he was the chief academic officer at Daytona Beach Campus of Embry Riddle University. As the chief academic officer of these institutions, he has been instrumental in gaining national rankings for academic programs and campuses, turning around enrollment declines, and improving student retention and graduation rates. Dr. Harraf is the recipient of several collegiate teaching and administrative awards. Additionally, he served on the board of several local and state boards including Greeley Chamber of Commerce, Utah Shakespearean Festival, the accessibility subcommittee of the Colorado Governor’s taskforce on higher education strategic planning committee, and represented all Colorado’s public institutions’ chief academic officers to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education as an advisory member. He consulted with national and international public and private institutions and businesses on strategic management, pricing strategies, and customer relations. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Utah State University, MBA & M.Ed. from Sul Ross State University, and BA in English from College of Translation. He is a graduate of the American Association of the State Colleges and University (AASCU) Millennium Leadership (MLI) and the American Academic Leadership (AALI) Institutes.
